Ukraine receives first RCH 155 howitzers after years of delay

Ukraine has received its first RCH 155 wheeled self-propelled howitzers, although the number delivered and their combat performance have not been independently confirmed. Germany ordered 54 systems in three batches of 18 for €890 million, after initially pledging the weapons in September 2022 and repeatedly postponing delivery. The KNDS system combines an automated 155 mm/L52 Artillery Gun Module with a GTK Boxer chassis, carries 30 rounds and 144 modular charges, and can reach about 70 kilometres with suitable ammunition. More than 600 Ukrainian personnel had completed training by March 2026.
