Ukraine's cheap Patriot rival now has a two-mode seeker

Ukrainian missile maker Fire Point has updated the published specifications of its FP-7.x Freyja anti-ballistic interceptor to list a combined infrared and radar seeker instead of the infrared-only seeker previously described. Using both infrared and radar can allow the missile to continue tracking when one sensing mode is degraded by factors such as weather, decoys or target characteristics. The change is part of the Freyja project to develop a lower-cost ballistic-missile defense system, with Fire Point planning its first ballistic-target interception around July 2027.
