US Army awards $12.9 million contract for Scorpion Light 81mm mobile mortars on ISV vehicles

The United States Army awarded Global Military Products a $12.9 million other-transaction agreement to integrate the Scorpion Light 81 mm mortar on Infantry Squad Vehicle utility platforms. The configuration combines M253 mortar tubes, digital fire control and Nett Warrior connectivity in a five-seat vehicle transportable inside a CH-47 helicopter. Demonstrations showed deployment and firing in under 30 seconds, with 72 rounds carried. The program seeks highly mobile indirect fire for light formations, although the initial award covers integration and evaluation rather than broad fleetwide production.
