US Army, GM Defense agree to add 12,000 Infantry Squad Vehicles to fleet

GM Defense announced on October 12 that the U.S. Army had expanded its Infantry Squad Vehicle orders from an initial 649 vehicles to nearly 12,000. The unarmored vehicle family uses commercial truck platforms, with the standard ISV based on the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 and the heavier variant on the Silverado HD 3500 ZR2. GM Defense also supplied seven company-funded prototypes of the five-soldier ISV-Utility for unit assessments. The company said the vehicles would be fielded across 39 active-duty and National Guard mobile brigades, although the announcement did not specify a complete delivery schedule.
