US Army PBAS Drone Strike: 2nd Cavalry Flies Soldier-Built FPV With C-4

Soldiers from the US Army’s 1st Squadron, 2nd Cavalry Regiment conducted a live FPV drone strike at Grafenwoehr, Germany, on September 30, 2026, destroying a staged target. The unit assembled and operated an Orqa MRM2-10 quadcopter carrying a 250-gram C-4 payload under the Purpose Built Attritable System programme. The squadron described the event as the first such live kinetic strike by a conventional Army unit without contractor or outside-unit assistance. The exercise tested whether soldiers could generate and employ expendable attack drones within their own formation, extending the programme from platform preparation to a live training engagement.
