US Army reaches out to industry for M109 replacement in a deal worth up to $8 billion

The U.S. Army has issued industry outreach for an M109 Paladin self-propelled howitzer replacement in a program worth up to $8 billion. The effort seeks improved range, mobility and rate of fire. It follows the cancellation of the ERCA extended-range cannon. Multiple domestic and foreign 155mm systems are expected to compete.
