US Army receives first M2A4E1 Bradley IFVs equipped with Iron Fist APS to counter missiles and drones
The U.S. Army began fielding Iron Fist-equipped M2A4E1 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles to the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, on October 5. Vehicles assigned to the 6th Squadron, 9th Cavalry Regiment incorporate Iron Fist Light Decoupled protection, four radar/infrared sensor assemblies and two interceptor launchers. Other changes include the IBAS Block 2.8 thermal sight, environmental control and increased electrical generation, while retaining the 25-millimeter cannon, coaxial machine gun and TOW launcher. The brigade is also receiving M7A4E1 fire-support vehicles, extending the protection upgrade to its artillery-support fleet.
