US Firm Aevex to Build Ukraine-Tested Vandal and Onyx Drones in Taiwan
Aevex and Taiwan's Coretronic Intelligent Robotics Corporation announced an agreement on October 2 to produce Vandal and Onyx unmanned aircraft in Taiwan using locally supplied avionics, payloads, motors and batteries. Aevex describes both platforms as combat-tested in Ukraine and plans to combine its airframe designs with Taiwanese manufacturing. The electric Vandal supports surveillance, electronic warfare and strike missions with a stated 4.5-kilogram payload, while the larger Onyx is a one-way attack aircraft carrying up to 13.6 kilograms. Both incorporate CompassX vision-based navigation for degraded satellite positioning, but production quantities, contract value and delivery dates were not announced.
