US Firm Oshkosh Begins DXPV Kaaiman Prototype, a Littoral JLTV for Dutch Marines
Oshkosh Defense began building the first Dutch Expeditionary Patrol Vehicle prototype, known as Kaaiman, for the Netherlands Ministry of Defence on October 13, 2026. Based on the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle production line, the configuration adds maritime corrosion protection, suspension and mobility improvements, modular protection options and integrated mission systems for littoral operations. The initial June 2025 agreement covers 150 vehicles for the Royal Netherlands Marine Corps, with series deliveries scheduled from 2028 and a later follow-on order adding vehicles and training kits. Prototype production advances the programme into hardware development, but Dutch-specific dimensions, weights, powertrain details and final variant allocations remain undisclosed.
