US military plans multi-UAV trials with Northrop Grumman quantum-navigated Lumberjack
Northrop Grumman is preparing a multi-aircraft evaluation of its Lumberjack Group 3 unmanned aircraft with an undisclosed US military service, integrating SandboxAQ's AQNav quantum-enabled magnetic navigation. AQNav uses magnetic sensing to support positioning when GPS is unavailable or disrupted, building on a previous Lumberjack flight demonstration of the technology. The planned trials will extend evaluation beyond a single aircraft as the companies develop navigation for contested environments. The activity remains a military test effort, with the participating service, aircraft quantity and subsequent procurement plans not publicly identified.
