US Navy Orders Two More 74-Ton Ship-to-Shore Connectors for $230M
The U.S. Navy awarded Textron Systems a $230 million modification for two additional LCAC 100-class Ship-to-Shore Connector air-cushion landing craft, announced on October 6. Each craft has a 74-ton payload and a 67-by-24-foot cargo deck, supporting movement of heavy equipment from amphibious ships to shore. Textron will engineer, build and test the craft at its New Orleans shipyard, where the production program has delivered 18 vessels with 13 more in testing or construction. The order continues replacement of the legacy LCAC fleet under a program covering 72 operational craft and one test vessel.
