US Navy Revives LRASM B-52 Integration for Standoff Anti-Ship Strikes
The U.S. Navy plans a sole-source delivery order to Lockheed Martin for integrating the AGM-158C Long Range Anti-Ship Missile onto the B-52 bomber. An October 7 presolicitation notice describes a cost-plus-fixed-fee effort covering software changes, testing, repair of test assets and investigation of failures encountered during integration. LRASM combines passive radio-frequency sensing, an imaging infrared seeker and a data link to locate and engage ships, including through autonomous terminal guidance. The notice revives an integration effort previously halted, but does not establish an award value, completion schedule or the precise B-52 configuration to be used.
