US Orders $6.3B in SM-3 Block IB Missile Interceptors After Iran Combat
The U.S. Missile Defense Agency awarded Raytheon a multiyear undefinitized contract action worth up to $6.34 billion to manufacture and assemble SM-3 Block IB interceptor All-Up Rounds. The award, issued on October 7, 2026, carries a base value of about $4.43 billion and covers work in Tucson, Arizona, and Huntsville, Alabama. Production is scheduled to continue through October 31, 2034, sustaining a line that had previously been expected to wind down. The interceptors replenish and expand inventories for the Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense system after recent combat use against Iranian ballistic missiles.
