US Raytheon DeepFires Autonomous Launcher Puts Tomahawk on a Robotic Truck

RTX's Raytheon has presented DeepFires, a prototype autonomous missile launcher mounted on an Oshkosh FMTV A2 tactical truck and aimed at the U.S. Army's Common Autonomous Multi-Domain Launcher requirement. The design uses Forterra vehicle autonomy and a Collins Aerospace command-and-control interface to support remote operation, with a modular launcher capable of accommodating weapons including Tomahawk cruise missiles. Soldiers operated the prototype remotely during Project Convergence Capstone 6 at Fort Irwin in July 2026, evaluating the concept in a field exercise. DeepFires remains a developmental demonstration; the exercise did not establish a completed Tomahawk live-fire test or a production contract.
