Barrett to Build Northrop Grumman's 25mm Precision Grenadier System
Northrop Grumman and Barrett Firearms signed a teaming agreement for the 25 mm Precision Grenadier System on October 12, 2026. Barrett will manufacture the shoulder-fired weapon in Tennessee and integrate its inductive ammunition setter, while Northrop leads prototyping and development of programmable airburst, proximity-fuzed counter-drone, buckshot and training rounds. The semi-automatic launcher has a five-round magazine, weighs just under 12 pounds and is designed to use the Army's XM157 fire-control system. The agreement supports a bid to replace M203 and M320 grenade launchers, but it does not constitute an Army production award or a final selection in the prototype competition.
