Australian Army tests Australian-made AS9 Huntsman howitzer in the field for first time, adding more mobile artillery firepower

The Australian Army has conducted its first field test of the domestically assembled AS9 Huntsman self-propelled 155mm howitzer. The AS9 is based on the Hanwha K9 Thunder platform, assembled in Australia under a local production arrangement. Field testing evaluates mobility, crew habitability, and fire control system performance under Australian conditions. The programme strengthens Australia's sovereign artillery manufacturing capability and delivers enhanced long-range fires for the Indo-Pacific.
