US firm plans expanded AUV deployment in Taiwan
US company Vatn Systems signed a memorandum with Taiwan's National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology to expand deployment of its S12 autonomous underwater vehicles. The cooperation covers AI-enabled command and control, local supply and sustainment capacity, and potential missions including intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, decoy activity and kinetic roles. The memorandum does not specify a contract value, vehicle quantity or delivery timetable, and follow-on procurement terms have not been announced.
