USAF Set To Power On New Air Force One Ahead Of First Flight
The U.S. Air Force expects to power on the first Boeing-built VC-25B presidential aircraft before the end of 2026 and conduct its first flight in 2027. The electrical power-on milestone will begin a major phase of systems integration and ground testing before the aircraft can fly and enter the acceptance process. Delivery of the first operational VC-25B is currently expected in 2028, following substantial programme delays and cost growth. A separate 747-8I bridge aircraft is meanwhile being used to familiarize crews and support presidential transport requirements.
