RAF to install blast protection for aircraft at Akrotiri airbase
The United Kingdom is tendering work to install precast reinforced-concrete blast barriers around the GOLF aircraft dispersal area at RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus. The planned barriers are intended to limit blast propagation and reduce damage to parked aircraft and nearby infrastructure. Bids are due in October, with award targeted for late November and construction scheduled from December 2026 through March 2027. The notice represents a protective-infrastructure procurement rather than a completed installation, and it does not indicate that fully hardened aircraft shelters are being built.
