U.S. Army’s top ammo supplier lands another big contract
The US Army awarded Olin Corporation a five-year, indefinite-delivery contract worth up to $788.4 million for small-arms ammunition. The agreement covers 5.56mm, 7.62mm, and .50-calibre rounds through September 10, 2031, with funding and production volumes to be assigned through individual orders. Army Contracting Command at Rock Island Arsenal made the award after receiving one bid. Olin’s Winchester business operates the government-owned Lake City Army Ammunition Plant, which can produce as many as 1.4 billion rounds annually, as well as a commercial ammunition facility in Oxford, Mississippi.
