USS Pinckney destroyer set for new depot work through 2028
The U.S. Navy awarded General Dynamics NASSCO a $149.6 million fixed-price-incentive contract for scheduled depot maintenance and modernization of the Arleigh Burke-class destroyer USS Pinckney. Work at the company's San Diego yard includes labor, equipment, testing, facilities, and quality assurance and is expected to continue through September 2028; options could raise the value to $149.9 million, with about 91% funded by fiscal 2026 other-procurement money. Pinckney previously received SEWIP Block 3 as the DDG Modernization 2.0 pathfinder, but the Navy has not said whether this availability includes the later SPY-6 radar upgrade.
