The US Army is looking for new drones to ferry blood supplies
The US Army's Blood Link project is seeking uncrewed aircraft capable of moving blood products rapidly between medical nodes and forward units. Drone delivery could shorten resupply time, reach isolated casualties, and reduce the exposure of helicopters, vehicles, and personnel on dangerous routes. The requirement is technically demanding because blood must remain within strict temperature, handling, vibration, and tracking limits throughout flight. The effort is at a capability-seeking stage rather than operational deployment, and successful systems will need reliable autonomy, protected communications, validated containers, adequate payload and range, and medical certification.
