Northrop Grumman unveils anti-jam version of its artillery guidance kit

Northrop Grumman introduced the E5 version of its Precision Guidance Kit with added protection against satellite-navigation jamming. PGK replaces the fuze on existing 155-millimeter artillery shells and adds guidance and control surfaces to reduce miss distance without buying a completely new projectile. The anti-jam update is intended to preserve accuracy when an opponent interferes with GPS signals, a recurring problem in high-intensity combat. The company has not publicly provided complete test data, unit cost, production quantity or a confirmed service-fielding schedule for E5 in Army units.
