AeroVironment and NIOA Eye Australian-Built One-Way Attack Drones With Local Warheads
AeroVironment and NIOA signed a non-binding memorandum at LAND FORCES 2026 to explore Australian production, integration and sustainment of AV's one-way attack systems. Proposed work includes local manufacturing and Australian variants fitted with NIOA-developed payloads and warheads where technically, commercially and legally feasible. NIOA could also become an authorized Australian distributor and support partner, covering training, logistics, maintenance coordination and inventory management under subsequent agreements. Announced on October 13, the framework identifies no specific munition, manufacturing site, production quantity or schedule, and any localization or technology transfer remains subject to definitive agreements and US and Australian government approvals.
