Sikorsky Aiming For Black Hawk ‘Nose Jobs’ To Be Available Within The Next Year
Sikorsky aims to offer a modular, interchangeable nose for H-60 Black Hawk helicopters within about a year, covering both new production and retrofits to aircraft already in service. The proposed structure provides roughly twice the physical space of the current nose for sensors, communications hardware and other mission equipment. Engineers have completed a design cycle and produced 3D-printed sections to obtain feedback on installation access and maintainability from operators and technicians. The modification forms part of Sikorsky's Black Hawk 2070 modernization approach, allowing aircraft to be configured for different roles, although integration and development work remain underway.
