Britain’s Brimstone 3 to reach initial capability next month
The United Kingdom expects the MBDA Brimstone 3 precision-guided missile to achieve initial operating capability in November 2026 under a revised program baseline. Defence Minister Luke Pollard confirmed that the updated baseline was approved on June 19, 2026, following work to address integration and clearance requirements. Brimstone 3 is planned for use from the Royal Air Force's Protector RG Mk1 remotely piloted aircraft and Typhoon fighters, providing precision engagement against designated ground targets. Separate weapon-clearance activities, including Protector-related separation testing, have continued during 2026, so the November date remains a forecast rather than an announced completed operational milestone.
