U.S. Army flies C100X drone to sharpen troop training

The U.S. Army’s Emerging Threat Replication Program flight-tested Performance Drone Works’ C100X at Fort Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania, on September 25. Evaluators examined its thermal camera, inert practice-munition drops and suitability for future training scenarios intended to reproduce the small-drone threats troops now encounter in combat. The Army did not publish test results, aircraft numbers or a fielding timetable, and it has not detailed how the C100X differs from the company’s C100, a multi-role quadcopter already used for reconnaissance, cargo and training experiments in future unit exercises.
