U.S. Textron Arms CUSV Drone Boat With BRAWLR Launcher To Extend Fleet Air Defense Coverage At Sea
Textron has integrated the BRAWLR missile launcher onto its Common Unmanned Surface Vehicle (CUSV), creating an armed USV capable of extending fleet air defense reach. The BRAWLR system enables the CUSV to engage aerial threats including drone swarms and cruise missiles beyond the immediate ship defense perimeter. This weaponized USV configuration could be deployed as a distributed air defense node, reducing load on primary combatants. The integration represents a significant step in the U.S. Navy's distributed maritime operations concept.
