Oklahoma troops trial cage armor against drone attacks
Oklahoma National Guard units fitted convoy vehicles with wire-mesh cage screens during Exercise Thunderstruck 3.0 to evaluate passive protection against small drone attacks. Photographs and video show improvised structures similar to cages used in Ukraine to disrupt or prematurely detonate first-person-view drones before they reach vulnerable areas. The Guard has not published formal test results, standardized specifications or a procurement decision, so the activity should be described as a field trial. The cages complement, rather than replace, electronic, kinetic and tactical counter-UAS protection measures.
