UK deprioritises tank live-fire exercises
The British Army has been directed to suspend non-essential training for much of the year as budget pressure and delays to the Defence Investment Plan disrupt previously scheduled activity. Collective events involving tanks, Apache helicopters and some large-scale live-fire exercises are being postponed, while training for deployed troops, units preparing to deploy and forces held at readiness will continue. Army leaders describe the adjustment as part of a move toward lessons from Ukraine, including drone warfare, alongside a planned long-term overhaul of training. The immediate cancellations nevertheless reduce opportunities to practise combined-arms manoeuvre and live gunnery until funding and priorities are clarified.
