NORAD tests cruise missile defenses against simulated threats approaching North America from east and west in major exercise
NORAD tested responses to simulated cruise-missile threats approaching North America from eastern and western axes during Exercise AMALGAM DART. The binational exercise ran from August 24 to September 1, 2026, combining U.S. and Canadian fighters, command and control, air-battle management and integrated air-and-missile defence. Assets operating from 3 Wing Bagotville in Quebec participated in the cruise-missile scenarios, while U.S. Northern Command coordinated personnel and equipment movements. NORAD did not identify the aircraft, sensors or interceptors used, but said the exercise also strengthened Arctic domain awareness and interoperability.
