Government again commits not to extend Dreadnought sub life
The UK government again stated that it does not plan to extend the designed service life of the Dreadnought-class ballistic-missile submarines. The position reinforces an acquisition model in which the four boats are built, supported and ultimately replaced on a planned cycle while sustaining continuous at-sea nuclear deterrence, rather than relying on a late-life extension to cover future delays. It is a policy commitment, not a new construction contract or retirement date, and its credibility depends on stable maintenance, reactor and weapons support plus timely development of whatever successor capability is eventually approved.
