NATO has released “The Hunters – Inside NATO’s Anti-Submarine Warfare,” a documentary filmed during the Dynamic Manta 26 exercise in the Mediterranean. The production follows allied ships, sonar-equipped helicopters and maritime patrol aircraft as they search for submarines off Sicily, illustrating how different sensors and national forces combine to build and act on an underwater contact picture. Dynamic Manta brought together submarines, surface ships and aircraft from multiple allies, and the film explains why repeated training is needed as acoustic conditions, geography and submarine behavior vary across operating areas.
