ICEYE leads European consortium chosen by ESA to design sovereign space intelligence architecture for EU security and defence
The European Space Agency selected an ICEYE-led consortium to study an architecture for the planned EU Earth Observation Governmental Service, a sovereign intelligence capability for civil-security and defense users. The ARISE team will examine how synthetic-aperture-radar constellations and other European assets could deliver persistent, all-weather observation and rapid access to imagery. ESA also commissioned a separate Leonardo-led study, allowing Europe to compare approaches before selecting an operational design intended to reduce dependence on non-European intelligence sources and support time-sensitive governmental missions.
