Industrial Base Concerns Over Building F/A-XX And F-47 Remain: Top Pentagon Procurement Officer
Pentagon acquisition chief Gen. Dale White says industrial-capacity concerns persist over developing and producing the Air Force's F-47 and the Navy's F/A-XX at the same time. Both sixth-generation fighter programs would draw on overlapping pools of skilled labor, specialized suppliers, engineering talent, tooling, and capital at a time when the combat-aircraft industrial base is already concentrated. The warning does not indicate either program has been canceled, but it highlights the need for sequencing, investment, and realistic production planning as the F-47 targets an accelerated first flight by 2028.
