Switzerland made a $617 million advance payment to the United States for its F-35A acquisition. The transfer keeps the Swiss F-35 programme on schedule despite political controversy. Switzerland is procuring 36 aircraft to replace F/A-18 Hornets and F-5s. Deliveries begin in 2027.
