Israel expands F-35I modernization agenda with SPICE 1000B, extended-range fuel tanks and electronic-warfare pod integration
Israel is advancing three nationally tailored upgrades for the F-35I Adir: the SPICE 1000B precision weapon through a project called SPICE Lite, extended-range fuel tanks, and an external electronic-warfare pod. Israeli officials have not published performance specifications or fielding dates for these integrations. Deliveries are meanwhile continuing with Technology Refresh 3 aircraft; three arrived in January 2026 and two expected in December would complete the initial 50-aircraft force. A third squadron is scheduled to receive its first jet in 2028, expanding the planned fleet to 75 aircraft under funding reported at roughly $12.82 billion.
