Flying machine gun: IAI and Sig Sauer test Fire Storm 250
Israel Aerospace Industries and SIG SAUER completed a live-fire test of FIRE STORM 250, a vertical-take-off drone carrying an M250 machine gun in a MICROLIGHT weapon station. Announced at AUSA on October 13, 2026, the trial demonstrated target acquisition through the onboard camera and firing from several distances and altitudes in single-shot and semi-automatic modes. The companies quote up to three hours endurance with 200 rounds, while the weapon station, gun and ammunition weigh 24 kg together. A multi-fuel engine supports field refuelling, and the operator must authorise every engagement, distinguishing the tested system from an autonomously firing weapon.
