German Army Moves to Buy GARMR Drone Defense System for Panzerbrigade 45 in Lithuania
Germany is preparing to procure Diehl Defence GARMR counter-drone systems as an interim capability for Panzerbrigade 45 in Lithuania, according to reporting on October 13, 2026. An initial qualification purchase is expected to remain below €25 million and use Mercedes-Benz G-Class vehicles, with a larger procurement being prepared separately. The proposed configuration combines an MG6 7.62 mm rotary machine gun and CICADA interceptor drones with radar and electro-optical threat detection. The effort addresses the brigade's near-term protection requirement while Skyranger 30 fielding remains pending; the reports describe procurement preparations rather than a disclosed fleet-wide production award.
