Pakistan Air Force unveils Chinese HQ-17AE surface-to-air missile system acquisition in new video
The Pakistan Air Force has publicly revealed its acquisition of the Chinese HQ-17AE short-range surface-to-air missile system in an official promotional video. Mounted on a mobile 6x6 vehicle, each launcher carries eight vertically launched missiles and combines search and engagement radars for defence against aircraft, drones and low-flying precision weapons. Reported specifications include simultaneous tracking of 24 targets and engagement of four, with mobility intended to protect manoeuvring formations. The disclosure confirms acquisition, but Pakistan has not stated the number of launchers or batteries, contract value, delivery dates or operational unit assignments.
