Implications of the Hangor-class for Pakistan's operational naval posture and strategic sovereignty
Pakistan's Hangor-class program comprises eight diesel-electric submarines equipped with air-independent propulsion, with construction split between China and Pakistan to build local expertise. The first boat's commissioning advances a fleet renewal intended to improve endurance, survivability, and conventional undersea deterrence in the Arabian Sea and Indian Ocean.
