Lozano: Army Giving Industry Another Shot To Offer IFPC Inc. 2 Second Interceptor, NGSRI Solutions
The US Army will offer additional companies opportunities to compete for the IFPC Increment 2 second interceptor and Next Generation Short Range Interceptor through shoot-offs in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2027. Current IFPC competitors are Lockheed Martin and a Boeing–Anduril team, while Lockheed and RTX are competing for NGSRI, the planned Stinger replacement. The existing Enduring Shield launcher uses AIM-9X missiles, with a second interceptor sought for threats including supersonic cruise missiles and larger rockets. Industry information requests and demonstration opportunities will run alongside the existing competitions, allowing more mature alternatives to re-enter consideration without announcing a new winner.
