INS Trishul Arrives in Toulon Sporting Recent Upgrades
Indian Navy frigate INS Trishul arrived at Toulon on September 22 for the bilateral Varuna exercise with France after receiving a broad package of upgrades. Visible changes include a BrahMos-capable universal vertical launcher replacing the Klub system, an Atlas Elektronik ACTAS towed sonar, an anti-torpedo decoy, AK-630 close-in weapon systems replacing Kashtan mounts, Western radars and four 12.7-millimeter remote weapon stations. The ship also carries new Bharat Electronics electronic-support-measures and communications-intelligence equipment, strengthening passive detection and collection of radar and communications signals.
