U.S. Army Expands Infantry Squad Vehicle Fleet 18-Fold to 11,582 for Drone-Era Warfare

The U.S. Army is expanding its Infantry Squad Vehicle fleet from approximately 640 to 11,582 vehicles, an 18-fold increase driven by drone-era warfare requirements. The ISV provides light infantry units with highly mobile, low-signature transport suited to environments where large armoured vehicles attract drone targeting. The expansion reflects lessons from Ukraine on the vulnerability of heavier platforms to small UAS. The procurement represents one of the largest light vehicle acquisitions in recent U.S. Army history.
