Japan’s FY2027 budget bets on stand-off systems to offset demographic decline
Japan's Defense Ministry requested a record fiscal 2027 budget exceeding ¥9 trillion, with stand-off weapons and uncrewed systems among its priorities. Longer-range missiles are intended to hold threats at distance, while automation and unmanned platforms can help sustain coverage as the recruiting-age population contracts.
