Army Orders Three More K9 Mobile Howitzer Prototypes, HDUSA Interested In New Tracked Effort
The U.S. Army ordered three additional K9 Mobile Howitzer prototypes from Hanwha Defense USA for its Mobile Tactical Cannon-Wheeled evaluation, increasing the reported prototype order to nine. The wheeled 155-millimeter systems support the Army's assessment of mobile artillery alternatives, and the additional vehicles exercise part of an option attached to the original six-prototype agreement. Hanwha Defense USA is preparing to transfer production work from South Korea to the United States as the program develops. The company also confirmed interest in the Army's separate tracked-howitzer modernization effort, without announcing an award under that requirement.
