France Delivers First Two Leclerc Tank Turbomachines Overhauled In-House
France’s DGA and Aeronautical Industrial Service delivered the first two Leclerc tank turbomachines overhauled at the state-owned AIA Bordeaux, announcing the milestone on October 5. Acceptance testing restored the units’ original performance, and deliveries were completed ahead of schedule after the ministry brought deep industrial maintenance in-house. The turbomachine supplies compressed air to the tank’s Hyperbar diesel engine, making its availability essential to powerpack performance. The workshop targets 25 renovated units annually from 2027, with routine contract oversight transferring to the Army’s sustainment authority as the line supports the Leclerc fleet’s continuing service and XLR modernization.
