Northrop Grumman Test Flies Lumberjack One-Way Attack System With Magnet Navigation
Northrop Grumman and SandboxAQ flight-tested a Lumberjack one-way attack aircraft using quantum-enabled magnetic navigation instead of depending solely on satellite positioning. The team moved from a stated operational need to flight in about one month, integrating the navigation package with an aircraft supplied by ESAero. Magnetic-field mapping can provide a passive, jam-resistant position reference over routes where GPS is denied or deceptive. The demonstration addressed navigation resilience; it did not establish that the complete weapon system is ready for operational fielding under the Army's planned acquisition and test process.
