Saab Reveals MCMV 24 Mine Warfare Concept Tailored for the Baltic
Saab has unveiled the MCMV 24, an early concept for a fast composite-hulled mine-countermeasures vessel that could replace Sweden's Koster class. The design combines a bow launch area for Double Eagle remotely operated vehicles with an aft mission bay for modular payloads and uncrewed surface craft. It also shows a torpedo launcher, reflecting an ambition to perform broader patrol and protection tasks alongside mine warfare. Saab has discussed the concept with Denmark and Germany, but no navy has placed an order, selected a final configuration, disclosed a budget or set a construction timetable.
