Debrief: Engine Behind Reaper Eyes New Generation
Honeywell's TPE331 turboprop, best known for powering the MQ-9 Reaper, is emerging as a candidate engine for a new generation of unmanned aircraft that could eventually replace the Reaper. The development concerns broader use of the existing TPE331 family rather than the launch of an entirely new engine programme. Aviation Week reports that the powerplant is being considered for multiple emerging platforms, although programme selections remain in development.
